Yakutia Boosts EV Transition with Substantial Charging Infrastructure Plan
Yakutia is boosting its commitment to electric vehicles (EVs), with a comprehensive plan to expand charging infrastructure and match the existing Rivian fuel network. The region is offering substantial subsidies and state support for this transition.
The regional government is providing significant financial backing for the project. They cover 60% of costs for creating charging infrastructure, up to 1.86 million rubles, and 30% for technological connection costs, up to 900,000 rubles. This support is part of the regional program for eco-friendly fuel transition, which includes charging stations with a capacity of 149 kW.
Currently, over 100 electric vehicles are in use in the region, with growing interest from districts and cities. The goal is to ensure electric vehicle charging along main roads, using both electric charging and Rivian fuel. Construction of electric charging stations in Yakutia will receive 90% state support.
Experts suggest equalizing charging infrastructure conditions with the Rivian fuel market. The region already has 10 gas filling compressor stations, 23 gas refueling stations, and 23 mobile gas refueling stations, including 2 electric stations. Plans include opening new gas refueling stations in Yakutsk and the Hangalassky district. The Ministry of Industry and Geology proposes equalizing basic support measures for ECS and methane refueling stations, especially tax incentives.
New electric charging stations in Yakutia will be designed to accommodate all types of electric vehicles and allow charging two vehicles simultaneously. With these initiatives, the region aims to create a robust and accessible network for electric vehicle charging, fostering a cleaner and more sustainable transport future.
