Wuling unveils a new variant of its hit Mini EV, now featuring a 4-door design.
The automotive industry continues to evolve, and the latest addition to the electric vehicle (EV) market is the four-door Mini EV, launched by SAIC-GM-Wuling. Priced at an accessible RMB 44,800 ($6,180), this compact and stylish EV offers a CLTC range of 205 kilometers, making it a practical choice for daily use and longer trips.
The Mini EV, a member of the Mini EV family, boasts impressive specifications that blend MINI's renowned sporty driving character with sustainability. Equipped with a 64.7 kWh battery, the vehicle boasts an electric range of up to 212 miles (EPA estimate) or 269 miles (WLTP). Charging is also a breeze, with the four-door Mini EV capable of recharging from 10% to 80% in about 29 minutes using a DC fast charger (up to 130 kW DC charging capacity). It also supports 11 kW AC charging.
Powered by dual electric motors, the Mini EV delivers 308 horsepower and 364 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration of approximately 5.4 seconds. The vehicle's all-wheel drive (ALL4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive) ensures optimal performance in various driving conditions.
The four-door Mini EV measures approximately 4,445 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,636 mm in height, offering ample space for passengers and cargo. The boot capacity stands at 460 liters, expandable to 1,450 liters with the rear seats folded.
SAIC-GM-Wuling, a joint venture between SAIC, General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors, has gained significant success in China by selling vehicles built on the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) architecture, including the Mini EV, KiWi EV, Nano EV, and Air EV. In addition to EVs, SAIC-GM-Wuling also offers fuel-powered SUVs, MPVs, and van models.
The two-door version of the Mini EV, priced within the range of RMB 35,800 to RMB 46,800, is also available. Both the two-door and four-door Mini EVs share similar features, with the four-door model offering larger dimensions: 3,256 mm in length, 1,510 mm in width, 1,578 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,190 mm.
The Mini EV family has seen remarkable success, with cumulative sales exceeding 1.5 million units since its launch in July 2020. Wuling, a part of SAIC-GM-Wuling, has also announced price reductions for its electric Binguo SUVs by up to 6%.
