In a bid to promote clean energy, European Energy, a renewable energy specialist, has proposed several projects in Italy. The company's plans include supplying clean energy to the former Ilva steelworks furnace in Genoa, using wind power as the primary renewable source.

Alessandro Migliorini, the Italy country manager of European Energy, has been at the forefront of these initiatives. He has proposed a wind farm in Ferriere, Val d'Aveto, a windy area with a low population, to generate power for the electric furnace at the former Ilva site in Genoa Cornigliano.

However, local opposition has emerged against the proposed wind farm in Ferriere. This is not the only challenge facing European Energy in Italy. The authorization process for renewable energy projects is slow, according to Migliorini. Moreover, the Italian government is currently considering decrees supporting renewables, but funds are being used for liquefied gas purchases instead of green technologies.

Despite these challenges, European Energy's projects in Italy are diverse. The company has projects underway in wind energy for power generation, as well as in agrivoltaics, a combination of agriculture and solar power. Some of these projects are in Piedmont, where European Energy has several plans for agrivoltaics.

Another area of interest in Italy is the production of green fuels for ships. European Energy's projects underway in Italy also involve the use of renewable energy for industrial purposes, such as powering an electric furnace.

Migliorini emphasizes the need for speeding up regulations to support renewable energy projects. He believes that if funds were used to produce energy at home, Italy might save money in the end. This sentiment is shared by many who advocate for a shift towards renewable energy sources.

In conclusion, European Energy is making significant strides in promoting renewable energy in Italy, despite facing opposition and bureaucratic hurdles. The potential benefits of these projects, including cost savings and reduced reliance on fossil fuels, make them worth pursuing. As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, initiatives like those by European Energy are crucial.
