In the captivating crime-genre television series, "D 2019", Kommissarin Springer, brilliantly brought to life by Rita Russek, takes centre stage. Directed by Dominic Müller, the 90-minute series promises a thrilling ride.

The story unfolds in the city of Bielefeld, where the smartphone app "Face23" is causing quite a stir due to its advanced facial recognition and data collection capabilities. This app becomes a significant plot point as the series progresses.

The series follows the investigation into a murder suspect, Alex Holtkamp, portrayed by Ina Paule Klink. A video of Holtkamp kneeling beside a dead body has circulated online, sparking widespread suspicion.

As the investigation begins, Bielefeld detectives Harald Drechshage, played by Roland Jankowsky, and his partner Thoung Nhi Nguyen, grill Holtkamp relentlessly. However, it's not just the local detectives involved in the case. Georg Wilsberg, portrayed by Leonard Lansink, initially travels to Bielefeld to present the "Face23" app but finds himself drawn into the investigation instead.

Wilsberg's friend Ekki Talkötter, played by Oliver Korittke, is not having a great day either. He's not invited to a friend's company anniversary and instead accompanies Ekki to see his friend Manni, but the meeting does not happen.

Meanwhile, Overbeck, portrayed by Arnd Klawitter, rushes to aid Alex Holtkamp, despite the local detectives' ire. Overbeck's determination to get involved in the investigation earns him the wrath of the Bielefeld police force.

The series also introduces the characters Bruno Korati and Katty Korati, played by Suzan Anbeh and Arnd Klawitter respectively. Their roles in the series are intricately woven into the overall narrative.

"D 2019" is rated 12 by the FSK, making it suitable for a general audience. With its gripping plot, compelling characters, and suspenseful atmosphere, "D 2019" is a must-watch for fans of crime dramas.
