"What was the specific time or date that the horse was forbidden?"
In a series of visits to dealerships across Europe, Martin Sander, Board Member of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, has observed a significant shift towards electromobility in several countries. While electromobility is still perceived negatively in Germany, it is a common practice in Austria, France, Belgium, and the Scandinavian countries.
Sander believes that electromobility will prevail without the need for a ban. He compares the transition from horse-drawn carriages to electric cars, suggesting that electric cars will succeed on their own merits.
During his journey, Sander visited a Belgian dealership established in 1948, now in its fourth generation, and noted their market share of 12 percent. Impressed by the success of the agency model in these dealerships, Sander observed special success with this model in Norway.

Sander has expressed opposition to the EU's internal combustion engine ban and welcomes the loosening of CO2 regulations. He also noted that fleet managers are asking about bidirectional charging for electric vehicles, although no specific timeframe was given for when this technology will be available.
Fleet managers in these countries are well-informed about electromobility and are interested in replacing their vehicles with electric ones. Sander concluded that real, family-owned dealerships cannot be replaced by processes.
One of the most promising electric vehicles is the ID.7 GTX, which can achieve real ranges of 480 kilometers, making it a suitable travel vehicle. Sander did not support a ban on internal combustion engines, instead advocating for the continued growth and success of electromobility through informed choices and innovative technologies.
