The FBI has awarded a five-and-a-half year contract worth $129.7 million to Leidos, tasking the company with supporting its Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division's Fingerprint Analysis Support Team (FAST) Biometric Services program. This contract is integral to the FBI's initiative to modernize and improve its biometric identification capabilities.

Under the contract, Leidos will focus on providing biometric identification services and related support for the CJIS Division. This partnership continues a longstanding relationship between the two parties, with Leidos having previously contributed to the development and integration of the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system—the FBI's advanced biometric identification platform used by various authorities domestically and abroad.

Key features supported by the contract include a repository for individuals of special concern and Rap Back, a system that provides ongoing notifications to authorized users about criminal activity involving individuals in positions of public trust.

Leidos has introduced agile methodology and development operations into the CJIS software development process. This approach has facilitated improved collaboration between the Leidos development team and the CJIS test, verification, and validation teams, leading to more efficient software delivery and maintenance.

The contract reinforces Leidos' critical role in advancing federal law enforcement technology infrastructure and ensures continued support for the FBI's mission-critical biometric identification services.

In the scope of the contract, Leidos aims to apply technology within the domain of data-and-cloud-computing, to enhance and maintain the FBI's biometric identification services within the finance sector, particularly focusing on the FAST Biometric Services program. This agreement underscores Leidos' pivotal role in fostering advancements in the industry through their involvement with the FBI's modernization initiatives.
