Warhammer 40K Makes Long-Awaited Model Updates on Some of Its Ancient Designs
After nearly four decades, the Aeldari faction in Warhammer 40,000 is set for a significant overhaul. Many key Aeldari models, some of which have been in use for over 20 years, are set to be updated as part of a revamp. Among the models being revamped are Fuegan, the lord of the Fire Dragons, Baharroth, the Swooping Hawks, and Lhykis, the lord of the Warp Spiders. These updates will replace models from 1994, marking a significant leap in quality and detail. Notably, Lhykis will be introduced in miniature form for the first time. The Fire Dragons, Swooping Hawks, and Warp Spiders will receive updated plastic multi-part models, replacing metal and resin kits from 2006, 2000, and 1994, respectively. This update is a welcome change for Aeldari players who, for a significant part of their adult lives, have been using the same miniatures they bought as children. The Aspect Warriors and Phoenix Lords, key elements of Aeldari lore and often fundamental pillars of an Aeldari army, are the focus of these updates. The Howling Banshees, Dark Reapers, and Shining Spears have already received updates in 2019, 2022, and this year, respectively. While the Dire Avengers, led by Asurmen, have not been updated since 2006, and Karandras, the leader of the Striking Scorpions, remains unchanged since 1994, there is hope that the remaining un-updated Phoenix Lords will receive new plastic models soon. The updates will also include a revamped rulebook for the 10th edition of Warhammer 40K, ensuring a more balanced and engaging gameplay experience for Aeldari players. It is currently not publicly confirmed which Phoenix Lord will receive the next miniature update in 2025. With these updates, the Aeldari, a popular faction in Warhammer 40,000, are poised to regain their glory on the battlefield. The new models, as they look in 2024, should not remain on shelves until the 2060s. The Aeldari models, despite their age among the Aspect Warriors, are finally set to receive the attention they deserve.
