Volkswagen Unveils ID. CROSS Concept: Electric SUV Coming in 2027
Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. CROSS Concept, a new electric compact SUV set to hit European roads in 2027. This stylish, compact vehicle is part of the ID. family and promises an attractive blend of design, performance, and practicality.
The ID. CROSS Concept, to be presented at IAA MOBILITY in Munich, is designed to fit into any parking space, mirroring the dimensions of the current T-CROSS. Despite its compact size, it's built for both city driving and long journeys, with a WLTP range forecast of up to 420 kilometres.
Under the hood, the ID. CROSS Concept boasts a newly developed, state-of-the-art drive system. It features an electric drive motor developing 155kW (211 PS), powered by the MEB+ modular electric drive matrix. The interior is a feel-good oasis, with high-quality materials, pre-configured light, sound, and climate modes, and plant motifs on the screens. The exterior showcases a new, clear, and likeable design language called 'Pure Positive'.
Spaciousness is a highlight of the ID. CROSS Concept. It offers an above-average boot volume of 450 litres, plus an additional 25-litre compartment under the bonnet. The production model, premiering in summer 2026, will be sold under the Volkswagen brand and use the MEB+ platform, shared with the ID. Polo. It's positioned as an electric counterpart to the T-CROSS and targets the broader entry-level electric vehicle market in Europe.
The ID. CROSS Concept is a significant addition to Volkswagen's electric lineup. With its attractive design, impressive range, and spacious interior, it's set to appeal to a wide range of drivers. The production model, due in 2027, will join the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5 in Volkswagen's electric fleet, offering customers more choice in the small car and compact segments.
