Upgraded 2027 BMW 7 Series unveils bifurcated headlights and fresh interior layout

The BMW 7 Series, the luxury car manufacturer's flagship model, is set to undergo a facelift, as announced by the company. Production of the updated 7 Series is scheduled to begin in July 2026, with customer deliveries expected in the second half of the same year.

The design of the facelifted 7 Series showcases a striking evolution, with the light bar spanning across the trunk and bisected by the BMW roundel, reminiscent of the 2023 Vision Neue Klasse concept. The rear end of the prototype sports a full-width light bar, while the main headlights are located lower in the bumper. A split headlight design, initially avoided in prototypes, is now confirmed for the 7 Series facelift.

The facelifted 7 Series will also feature iDrive X as its central interior technology, anchored by a central touchscreen and BMW's new Panoramic display that projects information across the entire width of the windshield. This marks a departure from the dual-screen iDrive 8.5 setup, which is expected to be ditched in favour of the new system.

The new iDrive X development will be publicly presented with the facelifted 7 Series, likely at a major event such as the IAA in September 2025. BMW introduced the new generation system with the Neue Klasse iX3 at the same event. The Neue Klasse iX3 will precede the facelifted 7 Series in production, debuting earlier in 2026.

The new BMW 7 Series will continue to be sold in the United States, alongside the i7 electric limousine. The design evolution of the facelift 7 Series suggests a unification with upcoming Neue Klasse models, further strengthening BMW's commitment to a cohesive brand identity.

The prototype of the facelifted 7 Series does not have exhaust pipes, indicating it could be an electric vehicle or an internal combustion engine vehicle. BMW has not yet confirmed the powertrain details for the updated model.

An official unveiling of the facelifted 7 Series is expected by spring 2026, marking the next chapter in the evolution of BMW's flagship luxury sedan. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
