Upcoming Motorcycle Debut: Harley-Davidson X440 Model Scheduled for September Release

The motorcycle world is abuzz with anticipation as Harley-Davidson prepares to launch the X440 in September 2025. This new offering, a blend of classic cruiser aesthetics and cutting-edge technology, promises to carve a unique niche in the modern-retro segment.

Powered by a 440cc single-cylinder air-oil cooled engine, the X440 delivers around 27 bhp and 38 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch for smooth performance. The bike features a round LED headlamp, teardrop fuel tank, and wide handlebars that hark back to the golden era of cruisers, while modern amenities such as a 3.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth navigation, call/SMS alerts, music control, dual-channel ABS, LED lighting, and safety features like an assist and slipper clutch ensure a ride that is as enjoyable as it is safe.

The X440's ergonomics favor a neutral, upright riding posture with mid-set footpegs and a cushioned one-piece seat, ensuring rider comfort even on long journeys. The bike boasts a fuel capacity of 13.5 liters and weighs approximately 195 kg.

Comparing the X440 to its modern-retro competitors, such as the Hero Mavrick 440 and the Triumph Thruxton 400, the X440 stands out with its premium features like the full TFT display with phone connectivity and advanced rider aids such as fall detection, SOS button, geo-fencing, and roadside assistance. The X440's rugged yet refined retro style with blacked-out finishes and alloy wheels targets enthusiasts seeking a blend of classic cruiser feel with modern tech.

The X440's fuel efficiency is rated at 35 kmpl, making it a practical choice for daily commuting. The bike is expected to take on the Triumph Speed T4 and Royal Enfield Hunter 350 in the modern-retro segment, with its competitive power output and advanced safety electronics and connectivity features.

The X440 is set to be sold via Hero Premia dealerships, and more details on Harley's plans will be available next month. With its strong brand recall value and higher aspirational value across multiple markets, the X440 is poised to be Harley-Davidson's most accessible motorcycle globally.

Meanwhile, the Hero Mavrick 440, a previous entrant in the modern-retro segment, had a short-lived run due to poor sales. However, the upcoming collaboration between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp could see the return of a more refined and competitive offering from Hero.

As for the third model from the collaboration, details are yet to be revealed. But with upgrades to the X440, including better styling and performance, eager motorcycle enthusiasts can look forward to more exciting announcements from the partnership.

In the meantime, the Yezdi Motorcycles Roadster 2025, with a projected price of 2.20 Lakhs, is another upcoming motorcycle to watch out for in the same segment. The Triumph Thruxton 400, priced at approximately 2.74 Lakhs, and the Bajaj Dominar 400 are also performing well in sales, making the modern-retro segment a competitive and exciting space to be in.
