At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Garmin Automotive OEM will be showcasing its latest innovations in automotive electronics. The highlight of their booth (Booth 3519, LVCC West Hall) will be the Unified Cabin suite, a scalable portfolio of technologies and design innovations that aim to revolutionise the in-car entertainment and information system.

First unveiled at CES 2023, Unified Cabin has been built upon with new technologies, customisation capabilities, and improvements to the user experience. Among the new features are improvements to the user interface, Dolby Atmos audio for a premium, immersive sound experience, and expanded entertainment options.

One of the key features of Unified Cabin is the ability to use the instrument cluster and Garmin Display SentryTM for gaming and video entertainment in Level 3+ driving mode or while parked. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for in-car entertainment, allowing drivers and passengers to enjoy their favourite movies or games on the go.

Garmin Automotive OEM's unique branded HMI theming capabilities allow for personalisation of the user interface, system sounds, lighting, and more. Automakers can provide downloadable themes and partner with third parties for an ever-fresh HMI look and feel.

The Unified Cabin suite is fully integrated into Garmin's Domain Controller with a single SoC and a single instance of Android Automotive OS. This integration ensures seamless operation and a smooth user experience.

Another unique feature of Unified Cabin is the ability to link personal wireless devices across multiple zones, with or without Ultrawideband (UWB) technologies. This allows for a more connected in-car experience, where passengers can control their own entertainment from their personal devices.

Zoned Voice Assistant is another feature that provides contextual, personalised infotainment results to any seat occupant through their individual zone's audio and display. This means that passengers can ask for directions, change the music, or adjust the temperature without having to disturb the driver.

The expanded use of Cabin Monitoring Camera aims to reduce driver distraction through a responsive UI. The camera will monitor the driver's attention and adjust the UI accordingly, ensuring that the driver remains focused on the road.

Garmin Automotive OEM's diverse manufacturing capabilities support a broad range of in-vehicle electronic strategies for the automotive industry. They currently provide hardware and software solutions to leading automobile manufacturers including BMW Group, Daimler, Ford, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Toyota, Geely, Kawasaki, and Yamaha Motor.

BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Ford will be registering to demonstrate the latest capabilities of Garmin's Unified Cabin™ Suite at CES 2024. The demo will include options to experience the Unified Cabin both in-vehicle and in a demonstration buck.

Matt Munn, Managing Director of Garmin Automotive OEM, stated that they have built on the success of Unified Cabin from CES 2023 with new technologies, customisation capabilities, and improvements to the user experience. With these new innovations, Garmin Automotive OEM is set to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of in-car electronics.
