In the heart of Ostrów Island's southern region, Eiffel Tower Renewable Industries has commenced production of wind tower components, marking a significant step forward in Poland's renewable energy ambitions. The factory, a joint venture between Spain's GRI Renewable Industries and the Polish Industrial Development Agency, is set to produce up to 150 wind tower sections annually.

Each section, approximately 50 metres long and 11 metres in diameter, weighs up to an impressive 500 tonnes. The first wind tower section was produced at the new Eiffel Tower facility in Gdańsk, Poland, earlier this year.

The Baltic Power project, a collaboration between Orlen and Northland Power, is scheduled for commissioning in 2026. This project, in conjunction with the wind tower factory, is expected to contribute significantly to Poland's renewable energy sector.

Van Oord completed the installation of 5 out of 76 Vestas 15 MW turbines at Baltic Power, Poland's first offshore wind farm, in August. Another significant milestone was reached last month by Baltica 2, an offshore wind farm owned by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted. Boskalis started boulder clearance work at the Baltica 2 site, located approximately 40 kilometres off the Polish coast near Ustka, in the same month.

The grand opening of the wind tower factory was attended by various dignitaries, including Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Pomeranian Voivode Beata Rutkiewicz, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Mieczysław Struk, Mayor of the City of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, representatives of the Government of Spain, Members of the Management Board of the Industrial Development Agency, and GRI Renewable Industries.

In 2023, Siemens Gamesa formed a joint venture with the Polish Industry Development Commission to establish a new wind turbine tower factory in Poland. This additional factory, along with Eiffel Tower, is set to bolster Poland's renewable energy industry and contribute to the country's commitment to a greener future.
