THW Deploys 1,000 Volunteers as Heavy Rain Batters Southern Bavaria

Heavy rain continues to batter southern Bavaria, leading to widespread flooding and evacuations. The Technisches Hilfswerk (THW), a federal volunteer-led operational organization, has deployed over 1,000 volunteers to assist in flood relief efforts, with more expected throughout the week.

In Baar-Ebenhausen, residents were evacuated at 3 a.m. using THW vehicles designed to traverse flooded roads and waterways. Meanwhile, in Vohburg, THW personnel are using high-performance pumps to lower water levels, capable of removing 24,000 liters of water per minute. The THW's work is crucial in protecting downstream villages from further flooding.

The THW's commitment extends beyond flood relief. In the Augsburg district, a special THW unit is on standby to combat oil spills and treat contaminated water. Their oil separation process can reduce special waste by around 90%, contributing to environmental protection and cost savings. For more information about their commitment, visit http://www.jetzt.thw.de.

With heavy rain expected to continue, the THW's efforts are vital in combating the ongoing flooding crisis in southern Bavaria. Their work not only helps to protect lives and property but also ensures the environment is safeguarded for future generations.
