THOR Unveils Embark, First Plug-In Hybrid Class A Motorhome
THOR Industries has unveiled the Embark, a new plug-in hybrid Class A motorhome, now available for orders. Full production is slated to begin in 2026. The Embark is a significant step towards electrification in the RV industry, as stated by THOR's President and CEO, Bob Martin.
The Embark boasts an impressive 140 kWh battery pack, providing 105 miles of electric range. To extend its reach, it also features a low-emission gasoline range extender, bumping up the total range to 450 miles. This electric vehicle (EV) platform was developed exclusively for THOR by Harbinger Motors, with whom they have been collaborating since 2022.
Safety is paramount in the Embark. It comes equipped with a backup camera displaying dynamic trajectory, front and rear ultrasonic collision warnings, and real-time tire pressure monitoring. Moreover, it can serve as a mobile energy backup system during power outages. The motorhome's 800-volt electrical architecture enables rapid charging at DC fast charger locations.
The Embark, manufactured by Entegra Coach, is THOR's latest foray into electrified RVs. With its extensive range, robust safety features, and rapid charging capabilities, it's set to redefine RVing. While full production begins in 2026, interested buyers can already place their orders. For the latest updates, it's recommended to monitor THOR Industries' official website or press releases.
