Tesla Increases Model S/X Prices in the U.S by Ten Thousand Dollars, Introduces 'Luxe Package'
Tesla Introduces Luxe Package for Model S and Model X in the U.S.
Tesla has unveiled a new Luxe Package for its Model S and Model X lineup in the United States. This package includes a range of premium features, aiming to boost sales and make the electric vehicles more appealing to buyers.
The Luxe Package offers several key benefits. It includes Full Self-Driving (Supervised), which enables the car to navigate city streets, highways, and complex intersections with minimal driver input, normally a $8,000 add-on. Additionally, it provides free lifetime Supercharging, allowing owners to charge their vehicles for free at Tesla’s North American Supercharger network.
The package also includes free lifetime Premium Connectivity, granting live traffic visualization, satellite maps, in-car internet browsing, music, and video streaming, services that were previously subscription-based. Moreover, it comes with a four-year Premium Service plan, covering tire and windshield protection, wheel alignments, tire rotations, HEPA and cabin filter replacements, wiper blade changes, and front camera cleaning.
The Luxe Package also includes interior and comfort enhancements such as premium leather upholstery, unique wood trim, an upgraded advanced sound system, customizable color/material options, and standard heated and ventilated seats for maximum comfort.
Despite the $10,000 increase in the base price of Model S and Model X vehicles, Tesla is presenting this as a value-add. The new prices for the models are: Model S AWD - US$94,990, Model S Plaid - US$109,990, Model X AWD - US$99,990, Model X Plaid - US$114,990.
It's worth noting that the Luxe Package is not available in Canada. However, Tesla has introduced a new "Drive Anywhere Package" that includes three years of unlimited Supercharging, Premium Connectivity, and other premium features for a one-time cost of US$5,000.
The sales of Model S and Model X in the U.S. have been on a decline. During the second quarter, Tesla only sold an estimated 5-6,000 Model S/X in the U.S., down from as many as 15,000 a year earlier. By bundling these add-ons into the base price, Tesla is hoping to reverse this trend.
