Tesla Extends FSD Transfer Program to Late 2025
Tesla has extended its Full Self-Driving (FSD) transfer program, allowing owners to shift their FSD software to new vehicles, until late 2025. This move, coinciding with delivery pushes, aims to boost loyalty and accelerate adoption of newer hardware.
Initially introduced in North America during Q3 2023 as a one-time 'amnesty' offer, the FSD transfer program enables owners to move their FSD news to a new Tesla at no extra cost. This benefits those with older Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles, encouraging them to upgrade and reducing Tesla's future costs.
Once transferred, the original vehicle reverts to basic Autopilot functionality, while the new vehicle gains access to all of Tesla's FSD features. Tesla frames this offer as a loyalty incentive but may also extend it to reduce future liabilities and accelerate HW4 adoption. The program has been extended multiple times since its reintroduction in early 2024, often coinciding with quarterly delivery pushes.
Tesla's FSD transfer program, now extended into the final quarter of 2025, allows owners to upgrade their vehicles while retaining FSD news. The program's continuation is likely until the retrofit becomes available, helping Tesla manage future costs and promote loyalty.
