Temporary & Permanent Coolant Leak Sealers: Top Products & Usage Guide
Drivers dealing with minor coolant leaks can now breathe a sigh of relief. Several products on the market promise to temporarily or permanently seal hairline cracks and small leaks in radiators and other cooling system components. To use these sealers, first allow the engine to cool to prevent burns. Then, pour the product into the coolant expansion tank. After adding the sealer, start the engine and let it warm up. After about ten minutes, check for leaks. If the leak persists, wait another two to three days and check again. Some sealers, like Bar's Leaks Liquid, also lubricate the water pump.
