Spend lavishly on newly released iPhone 17: The UAE residents who splurged thousands of dirhams on Day 1
In the heart of Dubai, the latest iPhone 13 lineup has caused a stir among tech enthusiasts and tourists alike. The devices, boasting advanced security features and user-friendly designs, have attracted a wave of buyers eager to secure their new gadgets.
Romit Aggarwal, a local resident, recently purchased seven iPhone Air and Pro Max for his family, while Mohammed Hammad, a 27-year-old mobile store owner from Egypt, added three iPhones to his collection during his visit to the UAE. Hammad's choices included two vibrant orange and one blue device.
The rush to secure the latest iPhone models has led to some buyers waiting in line for their turn. Abu Hashim, for instance, waited online for about five minutes to secure an appointment to buy an iPhone Air. His girlfriend, a huge Apple fan, will soon receive the gift.
The demand for the Pro Max, particularly the 1 TB and 2 TB storage versions, is at an all-time high. Many iPhone lovers are visiting the UAE to purchase the latest devices, as it is more cost-effective compared to their home countries.
Dubai-based IT security expert Rayad Kamal Ayub has also joined the ranks of iPhone 13 buyers. Ayub, who covers food, tech, and human interest stories for Khaleej Times, highlighted the enhanced security features of the iPhone 13 lineup, including Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE) and Apple Intelligence. He also plans to purchase the iPhone 13 Air and iPhone 13 Pro Plus for himself.
The new iPhone 13 lineup introduces features aimed at combating spyware and other malicious threats, ensuring a secure and private digital experience for users. This has been a significant draw for buyers, including some tourists who flew into Dubai earlier to purchase their devices.
Bargaining with dealers and other tourists for the best prices is a common sight among buyers. One buyer managed to make an average profit of Dh1,500 per device after selling them to a dealer.
Saudi expat Mansoor was one such tourist, flying into Dubai on Thursday night to pick up his new AirPods Pro 3 for Dh949. Mansoor booked his appointment for the AirPods Pro 3 on September 12 and managed to secure a same-day slot due to the device's availability in stock.
Abdul Rafique, another early adopter, spent Dh42,594 to secure six iPhone 13 devices for his family. He was the first person in line to get his hands on the first iPhone14s in 2023.
However, not all details about the iPhone 13 launch in Dubai are public. The specific person who purchased the new iPhone 13 at the Apple Store in Dubai Mall on Friday morning remains undisclosed.
The iPhone 13 lineup's launch in Dubai has undoubtedly created a buzz, with its combination of advanced technology, security features, and cost-effectiveness drawing in a wide range of buyers. As the demand for these devices continues to grow, it's clear that the iPhone 13 lineup has made a significant impact in the tech world.
