Sony Electronics Boosts 3D Spatial Reality Displays, Eliminating the Need for Glasses
In a significant move for the world of 3D animation and visual effects, Sony has released the Spatial Reality Display Player version 1.1 update. This update brings a host of optimised features for exhibitions, presentations, product showcases, and various other scenarios, making 3D content creation more efficient and of higher quality.
The update includes a demo function, a model background setting feature, and background music functionality, providing a more immersive and interactive experience for users. Moreover, the updated plug-in is specifically designed for Autodesk Maya, a popular 3D animation and visual effects software, allowing users of Maya to experience a higher level of precision in their work.
Sony has also released the source code for the Spatial Reality Display Plugin for Preview (BL) on GitHub, giving users the opportunity to leverage the code for feature additions and improvements in usability. The plug-in also supports other software such as Autodesk 3dsMax, ZBrush, and Blender, expanding its application range for 3D content creation.
Sony XYN, a software developed by Sony specifically for use with their Spatial Reality Displays, aims to make spatial content creation more intuitive and accessible for creators in animation, gaming, design, and engineering fields. XYN leverages real-time rendering, eye-sensing, and glasses-free stereoscopic 3D visualization technologies to achieve this goal.
The Spatial Reality Display can be mounted on walls or embedded vertically into fixtures for exhibition purposes, offering realistic 3D content without the need for special glasses or VR headsets. The latest release of the Spatial Reality Display Plug-in for Preview allows for stereoscopic display of 3D data, further enhancing the user experience.
The Software Development Kit (SDK) update increases compatibility with existing OpenXR-supported applications, and the SDK version 2.3.0 update adds compatibility with OpenXR (OpenGL and DirectX12), expanding DirectX11 support. This update aims to provide a broader range of applications for 3D content creation.
With these updates, users can explore new perspectives during 3D content creation and experience a more intuitive and effective creative process. The Spatial Reality Display Player version 1.1 update is set to revolutionise the way we create and interact with 3D content.
