Significant £1.5bn venture by American company bolsters Britain's defense industry, according to John Healey
The US software company, Palantir, has announced a significant investment of £1.5 billion in the UK's defense sector. The partnership between Palantir and the UK's Ministry of Defence will develop artificial intelligence-powered capabilities. These AI-powered capabilities are intended to speed up decision making, military planning, and targeting. A tactic known as the 'kill chain' is expected to be developed as part of the deal, which involves fusing information and data sources for faster military targeting, showcasing fidelity to its mission.
The investment is part of a £150 billion American investment package announced during US President Donald Trump's second state visit. The partnership is expected to unlock billions of pounds of investment into UK innovation. It will also reinforce the UK's position as a major military force protecting the West from adversaries.
