Schaeffler Showcases Innovation in Motion Technology: focus on electrification, mecatronics, and actuators at CES

Germany-based motion technology leader, Schaeffler, is set to exhibit a range of cutting-edge technologies at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas. The company's display, located in the Central Plaza, booth CP-15, will run from January 9-12, 2024.

Under the theme "Making next possible," Schaeffler's exhibit will focus on electrification, battery technologies, and mechatronics. One of the highlights of the show will be the mobile showroom trailer, a centerpiece of Schaeffler's CES display. This trailer will tour throughout the year and beyond, showcasing the company's innovations, capabilities, and culture.

In the realm of robotics, Schaeffler will exhibit the RT1-T Precision Strain Wave Gear Unit with Integrated Sensor, designed for applications in cobot, humanoid robot, and medical-surgical robotics fields. The RT1-T features integrated microelectronics, embedded AI, and a proprietary Sensotect coating for precise measurement of torque within the robotic joint actuator without compromising torsional stiffness.

Schaeffler is also developing a groundbreaking Ride Height Actuator (RHA) for optimizing powertrain performance in various driving scenarios. The RHA will be demonstrated on an electric light-duty truck, showcasing comfort features like easy ingress and easy exit, and speed-dependent vehicle lifting/lowering for battery electric vehicle range extension.

Schaeffler's battery packs will be on display at CES 2024 as part of the medium-duty truck demonstrator. This will demonstrate the company's battery management system and stamping capabilities in developing battery packs that optimize efficiency and space.

Schaeffler's battery management system incorporates intelligent algorithms and is supported by the deep knowledge acquired by Schaeffler's battery cell team. The company's new all solid-state batteries (ASSB) offer energy storage with the potential to revolutionize the industry, featuring higher energy density for increased operating durations and the ability for fast charging.

In the e-mobility sector, Schaeffler will demonstrate optimally designed electric axles, electric motors with advanced cooling concepts, magnet-free options, and innovative winding architectures, and an e-drive system. The company will also showcase the CASM-series electromechanical actuator for agricultural and construction equipment, offering an energy-efficient alternative to hydraulic cylinders with modular design flexibility.

Schaeffler's innovations will extend beyond CES 2024. Following the event, the mobile showroom trailer will travel across North America, visiting customers, schools and universities, community events, Schaeffler facilities, and more, as an extension of the company's commitment to innovation.

With over 75 years of experience in motion technology, Schaeffler has been a pioneer in manual clutches and has become a key provider of hybrid and electric solutions. The company's latest developments in mechatronics, electrification, and battery technologies are set to shape the future of various industries, making the next possible.
