Samsung's Freestyle Gen 2 Permits Cloud Gaming on Your Ceiling's Surface

Playing video games while lying down is a blissful experience, but it can be challenging when the TV is straight ahead. However, Samsung's new Freestyle Gen 2 projector makes this a breeze. Positioned on your back, you can enjoy your favorite cozy games projected onto the ceiling above, thanks to its innovative design.

Preorders for the Freestyle Gen 2 projector are now available. This upgrade from Samsung's original Freestyle projector, showcased at CES 2022, is named as such due to its compact size and lightweight nature, allowing for easy placement practically anywhere. The second generation boasts an increased storage capacity, enabling it to connect with Samsung's Gaming Hub, a free service. The Hub allows for access to various cloud gaming suites like Xbox Game Pass, NVIDIA GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna. All that's required is a compatible Bluetooth controller.

The Freestyle Gen 2 projects a high-definition 1080p display, ranging from 30 to 100 inches, onto any wall, even within a tent. While the gaming features require a strong wifi connection, its lightweight build (less than two pounds) makes it highly portable. Additional features include compatibility with Apple AirPlay 2 and the ability to operate from a USB-C-connected portable battery.

The Freestyle Gen 2 also grants access to all the apps available within Samsung's TV ecosystem. Popular streaming apps such as Hulu and Disney+ are included, along with Samsung TV Plus, a free ad-supported TV service offering numerous free streaming channels like Pluto TV.

Although we haven't had the chance to test the product ourselves, the idea of playing cloud games anywhere indoors is intriguing. The price of the Freestyle Gen 2 may be a drawback for some, costing $800 without any additional accessories or subscriptions. However, viewing it as a portable, 360-degree swiveling TV monitor could soften the blow.

The Freestyle Gen 2's innovative design and compact size make it an excellent fit for incorporating tech and technology into our future living spaces. With its ability to connect to various cloud gaming platforms, it's clear that Samsung is shaping the future of home entertainment.
