Samsung boosts capabilities of these useful Good Lock modules for One UI 8 update
The latest One UI 8 update for Samsung devices introduces a host of new features and enhancements across the Home Up, MultiStar, NavStar, and QuickStar modules. These updates primarily focus on improving the customisation, performance, and usability of these Good Lock modules, thanks to the integration with One UI Home.
Home Up, a key component of Samsung's Good Lock suite, now fully supports One UI 8. This update allows for enhanced customisation of the home screen, app drawer, and recent apps layouts. New settings have been introduced to improve performance, usability, and responsiveness. An added “Other Settings” option in the One UI Home settings menu provides additional configuration, although Samsung has not detailed every change yet.
One of the notable additions in Home Up is the ability to adjust app launch animations, offering users a more personalised experience. Additionally, horizontal scrolling when sorting apps alphabetically has been introduced, making navigation smoother and more efficient.
The other new multi-window setting allows users to switch between 16:9 and 21:9 aspect ratios while in portrait mode, providing greater flexibility for multitasking. Home Up's refinement also includes a new "Page Indicator Hiding" toggle, making it easier to fine-tune the setup of the home screen.
MultiStar and NavStar, which typically support multitasking enhancements and navigation bar customisations respectively, also benefit from the improved system stability and smoother animations introduced in One UI 8. QuickStar sees subtle design improvements in the Quick Panel, including bordered quick settings sections that give a more sophisticated look. New navigation features such as *Back Swipe Preview* allow users to see a preview of the previous window when swiping back, enhancing navigation ease.
The One UI 8 update also includes several other improvements across the Samsung ecosystem. These include improved animations and fluid UI transitions for a smoother experience, Quick Share now divided into Send and Receive tabs for simpler file sharing, accessibility improvements with Call Captions and Real Time Text during phone calls, new options in Battery Protection, and updates to several Samsung apps’ UI (Gallery, My Files, Reminders, Calendar).
Samsung is also planning to expand the utility of the Now Bar feature by supporting more apps, further enhancing navigation and multitasking on One UI 8 devices. The Good Lock update has made the modules compatible with One UI 8, paving the way for One UI 8 to start rolling out to older Galaxy phones.
