Safaricom & Huawei Launch Africa's First Video Ring Back Tone Service

Safaricom PLC, in collaboration with Huawei, has launched a groundbreaking service in Kenya. VybCall, Africa's first Video Ring Back Tone (VRBT) service, brings a new dimension of creativity and personalization to everyday mobile interactions in the country.

VybCall transforms the mundane act of listening to a ringtone into an engaging visual experience. Callers now see short, curated videos while waiting for calls to connect, replacing the usual audio tones. This innovation is set to enhance interactions across various sectors, including social media, influencer marketing, and customer engagement, although specific benefits for content creators, brands, and users are yet to be detailed.

The service is a result of a partnership that aligns Safaricom's commitment to digital empowerment and innovation with Huawei's shared vision to enhance mobile experiences and push digital boundaries in Africa.

With the launch of VybCall, Safaricom and Huawei have introduced a novel way to engage mobile users in Kenya. By turning ring-back tones into visual experiences, they aim to enrich mobile interactions and potentially open up new avenues for various stakeholders in the digital landscape.
