In a significant move to bolster cybersecurity preparedness and response capabilities, a consortium led by Romanian IT company certSIGN has been awarded a framework contract by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) to deliver critical cybersecurity services in Romania.

Established in 2004, ENISA contributes to EU cyber policy, enhancing the trustworthiness of ICT products, services, and processes with cybersecurity certification schemes. The consortium, which includes Bit Sentinel and CybrOps, will deliver a comprehensive range of cybersecurity services to organizations regulated by the NIS2 Directive in Romania.

CertSIGN, a Romania-based company, specialises in developing information security software applications and providing trust services and services related to the protection of information. The company operates a private CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) accredited by Trusted Introducer, providing specialized information security services that protect organizations against escalating security threats.

CybrOps, on the other hand, provides services that enable organizations to achieve and maintain cyber resilience. They specialize in the provision of services required for securing critical infrastructures, implementing organizational and technical controls for information security and regulatory compliance, securing IT, SCADA, and OT systems, conducting Penetration testing IT audits, and performing advanced threat-based cyberattack simulations and risk management.

The services offered by the consortium include coordinated cybersecurity testing exercises, cyber risk monitoring, bespoke cyber security training, among others. The goal is to enhance Romania's readiness and response capabilities in alignment with the NIS2 Directive.

The National Directorate for Cybersecurity (DNSC) will coordinate the implementation of the services for the beneficiaries impacted by the NIS2 Directive. The DNSC is the competent authority in Romania for the national civilian cyberspace, including the management of risks and cyber incidents.

Adrian Floarea, CEO of certSIGN, stated that this contract represents a significant milestone to support ENISA and national institutions in strengthening European cybersecurity resilience. The consortium will work together with ENISA and the Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate to implement the Cybersecurity Support Action Programme.

The Cybersecurity Support Action Programme led by ENISA aims to complement national and Union-level efforts to improve Member States' readiness and capability to respond to cybersecurity incidents and crises. The contract duration is for a three-year period with an allocated budget of up to €900,000.

Bit Sentinel delivers comprehensive cybersecurity solutions designed to safeguard and enhance digital infrastructure. Their services include Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Incident Response, Security Operations Centre as a Service (SOCaaS), Vulnerability and Risk Assessments, Security Audits, Penetration Testing, Malware Protection, Cyberattack Recovery, Zero-Day Threat Mitigation, and specialized training programs.

By joining forces, these three companies are committed to delivering critical cybersecurity services that will strengthen the preparedness and response capabilities of organizations in Romania, contributing significantly to the overall cybersecurity landscape of the European Union.
