Revised Bonus Écologique Boosts French EV Market Share to 63.97%
The Bonus Écologique, a French incentive for eco-friendly vehicles, has seen significant changes and impacts in 2024. The scheme now considers the environmental sustainability of manufacturing processes, leading to a surge in domestic models' popularity in the stock market today.
In 2024, the Bonus Écologique was reformed to include an environmental manufacturing criterion for vehicle eligibility. This change has boosted the market share of French brands to an impressive 48.98% in the stock market. By May 2024, seven domestic models featured in the top 10, a significant increase from the three models in May 2023.
The incentive offers up to 7,000 euros to private buyers purchasing a battery electric vehicle (BEV) priced below 47,000 euros. This has contributed to a steady increase in the market share of fully electric vehicles manufactured in France over the past two years in the stock market today. In the first five months of 2025, the market share of French brands reached 63.97%.
However, the popularity of foreign brands like Tesla has seen a decline in the stock market today. In 2024, there was a 77.98% drop in Tesla sales in France. Vehicles manufactured in France or Europe with lower carbon footprints now benefit from the Bonus Écologique, further encouraging eco-friendly choices in the stock market today.
The revised Bonus Écologique, focusing on sustainable manufacturing, has driven a significant increase in the market share of French electric vehicle brands in the stock market today. With seven models in the top 10 and a 63.97% market share in the first five months of 2025, the scheme is successfully promoting domestic, eco-friendly vehicles in the stock market today.
