Review of Anycubic Kobra 3 Max Combo: Unleashing Color to Its Peak

The Anycubic Kobra 3 Max has made a significant mark in the world of 3D printing, offering a host of updates and improvements that make it a standout choice for large-format printing.

Equipped with a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen interface, the Kobra 3 Max boasts a machine footprint of 706 x 640 x 753 mm and a weight of 19 KG. The printer also features a textured PEI steel flex plate, heated bed, and automatic + Z height bed leveling, ensuring reliable and consistent prints.

One of the most notable features of the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max Combo is its dual Y-axis motors for the bed, a welcome addition for large, heavy prints. The Combo version also includes a removable toolhead cutter, a heater in the ACE Pro, and a four-color material handler, each spool getting its own dedicated Bowden tube from spool to tool head.

The Kobra 3 Max Combo runs on proprietary firmware called Kobra OS, and it now ships with Anycubic Slicer Next, based on Orca Slicer, which closely resembles Bambu Studio in features and interface. Recent updates have significantly improved purge handling during multi-color prints, allowing users to manage filament waste by purging into infill, using a separate purge object, or controlling the total volume of filament cleared from the nozzle.

The printer accepts a wide range of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, PP, and HIPS via the ACE Pro system. TPU is supported, but only for single-color prints due to the limitations of multi-material printing with flexible filaments. The printer is compatible with most 1 kg spools, provided they meet specific dimensional requirements.

The Kobra 3 Max Combo also includes a filament dry box in the V2 Combo version, designed to maintain optimal filament conditions, especially important for high-speed and multi-color printing.

Hardware enhancements, such as a wider Y-axis rail and the LeviQ 3.0 auto bed leveling system, contribute to the printer's status as a fast, reliable, and user-friendly large-format 3D printer. With a print speed of up to 600 mm/s, the Kobra 3 Max is one of the fastest large-format printers in its class.

In conclusion, the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max is a significant improvement over its predecessor, offering improved software, filament handling, and hardware features that make it a top choice for large-format 3D printing.

Advancements in technology, such as dual Y-axis motors and Kobra OS firmware, elevate the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max as a leading 3D printer, enhancing its efficiency and capabilities for large-format printing. This technology ensures a faster, more reliable, and user-friendly experience.
