Rapid PC Sales: Stellar Blade Surpasses One Million Units in Three Impressive Days, Mainly Owing to Chinese Gaming Enthusiasts
Injustice, Uncensored, Raw:
Word on the street is that Stellar Blade is the hottest new game on PC right now. Shift Up proudly declared that this bad boy racked up over a million sales in its first three days alone. Not too shabby, eh? I've never sold a million of anything, but hats off to the dev team for making it rain cash.
And it's no surprise. Last weekend, Stellar Blade stormed into Steam's top 100 most-played games by concurrent players, taking the 81st spot with 192,078 players smoking up their screens at the same time. Across all platforms, the game's moved over 3 million copies. So thanks, PC gamers, thanks for being a bunch of feckless spendthrifts.
Apparently, China's got a craving for this game. According to analyst Daniel Ahmad (via Gamespot), the bulk of the PC sales are coming from the Middle Kingdom. The Chinese-language dub for the game wasn't available on consoles until the PC version dropped, and in yuan, the game retails at a measly $38 compared to $60 elsewhere.
Our solitary reviewer wasn't as enamored as the Chinese folks seem to be. They gave it a 68% in our review and complained about the game's middling story, grinding tutorial level, and lack of originality. Yet, it's "a decent enough soulslite" they said, and sometimes that's all folks are after.
Along with all the action, there's a dash of NSFW content and alarmingly adult mods to keep players engaged.

Joshua Wolens: With memories of Quake 2 and the family computer tainted in my childhood, I've been a hopeless gamer ever since. My ragged writings have graced Vice, Fanbyte, and the Financial Times. I'll play just about anything, and I've prattled on about visual novels to Assassin's Creed like it's going out of style. My deepest passions lie in CRPGs, immersive sims, and games that shoot for the moon but end up with a ticket to Mars. I assert that you're all wrong about Deus Ex: Invisible War.
