Qualcomm Wins Legal Battle Against Arm, Vows to Continue Licensing
Qualcomm has emerged victorious in its legal battle against Arm, with a Delaware court ruling that it did not breach any architecture license agreement. The ruling comes after a jury previously sided with Qualcomm in the same case. Arm, however, has announced its intention to appeal the verdict.
The dispute centered around Qualcomm's acquisition of Nuvia and whether it could use the company's technology, which is licensed from Arm. The court ruled that Qualcomm did not violate the agreement, dismissing Arm's claims. Qualcomm's CEO has since stated that Arm has no plans to terminate their architecture license agreement.
Qualcomm's counter lawsuit against Arm is ongoing, with a trial scheduled for March 2026. The appellate court will now review the case, assessing whether Qualcomm infringed on Arm's intellectual property rights based on the contract's terms and evidence presented.
Qualcomm has won a complete victory over Arm in this licensing spat, achieving a full victory on all three issues raised in the December trial. However, the final outcome remains uncertain as Arm has announced its intention to appeal the verdict. The legal battle continues, with the appellate court's decision expected to provide further clarity on the complex licensing agreement between the two tech giants.
