Pwn2Own Ireland 2025 Offers Record $1M Bounty for WhatsApp Exploits

Meta's Pwn2Own Ireland 2025, organized by Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative, returns with a record-breaking $1 million bounty for WhatsApp exploits. The event, set in Cork from October 21 to 24, offers lucrative rewards across eight categories, including Mobile Phones, Messaging, Smart Home Devices, and Wearables.

Last year's event saw participants earning over $1 million for over 70 new vulnerabilities. This year, the Wearables Category offers up to $150,000 for zero-click remote code execution (RCE) on Ray-Ban smart glasses and Quest headsets, and up to $30,000 for a self-jailbreak exploit.

The SOHO Smashup category returns with increased difficulty, and a new USB attack vector has been added to the mobile category. Meta is offering a $1 million bounty for WhatsApp exploits that allow remote code execution with no user interaction. Participants can also earn up to $500,000 for a one-click WhatsApp RCE exploit and up to $150,000 for a zero-click account takeover exploit.

Pwn2Own Ireland 2025 promises to be an exciting event, with substantial rewards for successful exploits. The expanded categories and increased difficulty levels reflect the event's commitment to driving innovation in cybersecurity.
