Polestar CEO, Lohscheller, voices concern on the ongoing debates about competitors' products: "Maintain focus, avoid distractions"

Polestar, the electric performance car brand, has expanded its model portfolio with the announcement of three new vehicles: the Polestar 3 (an SUV), the Polestar 4 (an SUV coupé), and the Polestar 7, a compact SUV scheduled for release in the European market in 2028.

The Polestar 5, a high-performance fully electric model, has also been unveiled, targeting cars like the Porsche Taycan with an entry price of 119,900 euros. This new addition is based on a new 800-volt platform and features a chassis made from recycled aluminum.

The Polestar 7 will be built in a Volvo plant in Slovakia, a move that underscores the close relationship between the two brands.

Polestar aims to establish itself at the level of Porsche in terms of profit and the dynamics and efficiency of its vehicles. To achieve this, the brand has taken a clear stance against hybrid solutions or electric vehicles with an internal combustion engine as a power generator. Sustainability remains a central goal for Polestar, with the long-term aim of producing a completely emission-free car.

The design language of Polestar remains Scandinavian but is being interpreted more boldly under the leadership of Philipp Römers, the former chief designer of Polestar, who replaced Max Missoni. Römers, however, is currently not listed with a carmax in the available search results.

In terms of sales, Polestar has seen significant growth. The brand increased its sales by 51% in the first half of the year, and around 180,000 units of the mid-size sedan Polestar 2 are now in use worldwide.

Polestar has restructured its sales organization, relying on a network of Volvo dealers, and currently has 169 dealers worldwide. The brand remains calm about the recent decline in demand for electric vehicles in Germany, with CEO Michael Lohscheller viewing the debate over the potential postponement of the ban as unnecessary.

Lohscheller also wants Polestar to position itself more strongly as a performance brand, believing that the future lies ahead, not behind, and that the debate only distracts and delays necessary developments.

The EU is planning to ban internal combustion engines by 2035, a move that aligns with Polestar's commitment to electric vehicles. The brand currently has access to a million charging points, providing its customers with the necessary infrastructure for a seamless electric driving experience.

Despite the pushback of the Polestar 6 sports car, Polestar continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and design, positioning itself as a serious competitor in the luxury electric vehicle market.
