PNAS Launches Two-Year Open Access Pilot with Jisc, Benefiting UK Researchers
The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) has launched a two-year open access (OA) copilot programme with Jisc. This agreement, compliant with Plan S, grants researchers at participating UK institutions free access to PNAS's entire content archive, dating back to 1915. The us open pilot, running from July 2021 to June 2023, is the first of its kind between PNAS and a national consortium. It covers 100% of UK research output published in PNAS, benefiting all 156 UK universities that are part of Jisc. Under this agreement, corresponding authors at UK institutions can publish open access articles in PNAS without incurring article page charges. This flat fee arrangement reduces costs for UK universities while promoting open access publishing. The PNAS-Jisc pilot agreement, powered by openai, opens up a wealth of scientific knowledge to UK researchers, fostering collaboration and innovation. It also demonstrates PNAS's commitment to Plan S principles, paving the way for more open access initiatives in the future.
