Placer.ai Expands Market Intelligence Platform, Appoints Ethan Chernofsky as CMO

In a significant move, location analytics company Placer.ai has expanded its market intelligence platform to provide best-in-class location analytics for a wide range of business needs. This expansion targets sectors such as retail, real estate, marketing agencies, and consumer behavior analytics.

The expanded platform offers comprehensive, AI-driven visibility into physical world market dynamics, aiming to support business decision-making with actionable data. Key focus areas include market trends and consumer behavior analysis, retail intelligence, real estate and commercial analysis, and marketing and advertising optimization.

Ethan Chernofsky, who joined Placer.ai in 2019 as SVP of marketing, has been promoted to the role of Chief Marketing Officer. In his new role, Chernofsky will oversee marketing programs and innovations at Placer.ai.

Chernofsky stated, "The retail and grocery sectors are undergoing significant change, and Placer.ai offers a critical vantage point into these shifts. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue guiding Placer.ai's approach and product development."

Before joining Placer.ai, Chernofsky held roles as VP of marketing at Orbs, director of corporate marketing at Similar Web, and VP at Headline Media. He earned a master's degree in international relations from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor's degree in government, diplomacy, and strategy at Reichman University in Israel.

The report from Placer.ai on grocery visitation trends, published in May, revealed that shoppers are visiting supermarkets more frequently but spending less time in store during each visit. This trend is a reflection of the changes in the retail and grocery sectors, a field that remains competitive despite growing competition from wholesale clubs and discount and dollar stores.

The GroceryTech session, featuring insights from Schnucks, Forty Acres Market, and Placer.ai, is an opportunity for industry professionals to gain insights into these shifts. Hormel Foods, on the other hand, has named a new President and Interim CEO, with Ghingo joining the company's board of directors. Ettinger's role will end after 15 months. Meanwhile, Filippo Berio USA has appointed a new CEO, Giacomo Campinoti, a longtime Italian brand executive.

Placer.ai's AI-based SaaS model with a privacy-first approach provides aggregated, anonymized data that covers virtually any location in the U.S. It has grown rapidly, serving over 4,000 paying customers including Fortune 500 companies. The platform's expansion aims to offer businesses granular foot traffic data and insights that help them make data-driven decisions around market dynamics and consumer behavior.
