Pixel Phone Users Now Qualify for Complimentary Battery Replacements by Google; Confirm Your Eligibility.
Google has announced a battery replacement program for Pixel 6a users who have been experiencing battery drain and overheating issues. Here's what you need to know to check your device's eligibility and claim your preferred option.
First, find your Pixel 6a's IMEI number by going to *Settings > About phone* on your device. Next, visit Google's dedicated eligibility page and submit your email address and IMEI number to verify if your device qualifies for the program.
If your device is eligible, Google offers three options for affected Pixel 6a owners:
1. A free battery replacement through authorized service centers (note this may take a few days and will temporarily sideline your phone). 2. A $100 cash payment (or local currency equivalent), delivered via Payoneer. 3. A $150 Google Store credit toward purchasing a new Pixel device.
The cash option might not be available in all countries due to local regulations.
If you are submitting a claim on behalf of someone else, Google may ask for extra verification to confirm eligibility.
Google will also push a mandatory Android 16 update to Pixel 6a devices to mitigate the battery and overheating issues. The update may reduce battery capacity and charging speed as a preventative measure.
The battery replacement program is available starting July 21, 2025, at walk-in repair centers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Japan, and India. Mail-in repair services will be available for customers in the US and India.
Devices with liquid damage or significant physical damage may not qualify for the free battery service. The final amount will be calculated using the exchange rate in effect at the time the user selects their support option.
Additional battery replacement capability is expected in Japan, France, some other parts of Europe, and Australia soon. The mandatory Android 16 update, which improves battery efficiency and reduces overheating risks, is scheduled to start rolling out on July 8, 2025.
Please note that out-of-warranty issues like broken screens may incur a service fee. Google has not mentioned any new locations for the battery replacement program in this announcement. For more information, visit Google's dedicated eligibility checker page.
