Pi Network Launches Rust SDK, Kicks Off Global Hackathon

Pi Network has launched its software development kit (SDK) in Rust, offering a comprehensive toolset for smart contract development directly from local workstations. The Pi Hackathon, a global developer competition, has kicked off to encourage adoption of the new SDK, with significant rewards for winning projects.

The Pi Rust SDK is inspired by the Stellar Soroban Rust SDK and includes a CLI tool for compiling, testing, inspecting, and deploying contracts. It relies on a secure and efficient hosting environment composed of Rust crates for smart contract execution.

The Pi Hackathon focuses on practical use cases, incentivizing developers worldwide to create innovative Pi-Commerce applications integrating smart contracts using the new SDK. Participants are encouraged to build solutions that connect merchants and customers with Pi transactions. The event aims to demonstrate the capabilities of Pi Network's Rust SDK and broaden its developer base.

By launching the Rust SDK and hosting the Pi Hackathon, Pi Network seeks to increase the utility of the Pi token and foster a thriving developer community. The event is expected to bring creative applications and solutions, showcasing the potential of Pi Network's smart contract capabilities.
