Palo Alto Networks has finalized the purchase of Protect AI.

In a significant move to bolster its AI security offerings, Palo Alto Networks has completed the acquisition of Protect AI. This strategic union aims to deliver protection across the entire AI lifecycle, providing both depth and breadth in AI security.

The integration of Protect AI's advanced technologies and expert team is a key component of Palo Alto Networks' Prisma AIRS platform. The combined entity will now offer an industry-leading comprehensive AI security platform, addressing newly emerging vulnerabilities and attack surfaces that traditional security tools cannot manage.

Key expanded functionalities now included in Prisma AIRS are model scanning, posture management, AI red teaming, runtime protection, and AI agent security. These capabilities extend protection across the entire AI lifecycle—from development, through deployment, to runtime—enabling safer AI innovation across industries.

Palo Alto Networks' SVP Anand Oswal emphasised the immense security risks associated with the promise of AI. He stated that Protect AI's capabilities complement Prisma AIRS, providing a lifecycle-wide AI security solution, supporting customers' accelerated AI adoption at scale.

Ian Swanson, CEO of Protect AI, has joined Palo Alto Networks as VP, Product, Prisma AIRS. He commented that the acquisition propels the AI security platform into a new era of scale and impact. Mr. Swanson's vision is to make AI secure, safe, and trustworthy for everyone.

The combined entity positions Prisma AIRS as a single, scalable platform offering full-spectrum AI risk management. This makes it an attractive solution for various major industries, such as finance, government, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail, which are rapidly adopting complex AI-driven infrastructures.

At the Black Hat USA 2025 conference in Las Vegas from August 5-7, Palo Alto Networks and Protect AI will showcase Prisma AIRS. The conference booths (Palo Alto Networks Booth #3240 and Protect AI Booth #3264) will feature security solution demonstrations and discussions.
