Laying Out the Latest: Our New Service Strategy and Its Impact

employment, money, design, technology

Change is in the air at Dribbble, as we continue to shake things up with new features intended to streamline designer-client interactions. Let's dive into our latest creation, Service Search, and the repercussions it's bound to have on lead conversion, visibility, and website traffic.

In the spirit of making life easier for our designers, we launched the Services feature in December, empowering creatives to offer their freelance expertise instantly for purchase. This was followed by Milestones, enabling designers to receive funds for each phase of their project, even before work commences if their Service includes an upfront payment.

Last week, we shook things up with Service Search, a nifty tool designed to help clients effortlessly discover relevant Services from a vast pool of designers. This features is now accessible on any page of the website, where clients can toggle between Designer Search, Shot Search, and Service Search to find designers, peruse examples of their work, or purchase Services.

Each of these search modalities boasts its unique interface, ranking algorithm, and result types, yet they work in harmony to help clients find the perfect designer.

The primary aim behind everything we do is to foster increased user activity, interaction, and transactions on our platform.

Service Search serves up several benefits to both clients and designers:

  • Streamlined Service Discovery: Gone are the days of trawling through designers' profiles one by one to view their offerings. With Service Search, clients can now peruse the entire catalog of Services and refine results based on price, completion time, and other key decision factors.
  • Site-wide Search: Previously accessible only from the Designer Search page, clients can now search for Services from any corner of the website, making it easier than ever to discover new designers and projects. This functionality had a major impact on Designer Search usage when introduced last October, and we anticipate a similar outcome here.
  • Enhanced Lead Conversion: More leads = more projects = happier designers. Service Search allows designers to boost their lead generation and throughput, providing them with a better chance to shine and impress potential clients[1].
  • Index Boost: As search engines crawl and index Service Search results pages, as well as individual Service pages, we'll see an influx of Organic Search website traffic[2].

Minimizing user disintermediation is essential for us, as it helps maintain a positive user experience for both designers and clients, while ensuring high-intent traffic to the platform. By keeping transactions on Dribbble, we can offer our safety net to users, protecting them from scams, fraud, intellectual property issues, and other complications that occur when dealing off-platform[3].

Other newly introduced features in February have already made a significant impact on Dribbble's bottom line, including Milestones, Video Calls, and a graduated platform fee for clients.

The implementation of these features allows for more flexible payment terms and schedules, enabling the facilitation of larger transactions on the platform. Over the past six months, user adoption of these features has surpassed expectations, contributing to an unprecedented surge in transaction activity[4].

Transaction volume is on the rise at Dribbble, with the market expanding and the future looking bright. Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting developments as we continue to elevate the designer-client experience in the months to come!

Additional Enrichment Data:

  1. Improved Lead Generation: Service Search simplifies the process for clients to find and connect with skilled designers, boosting the likelihood of successful lead conversion[1]. Accurate, detailed information about services on display increases designers' visibility to potential clients, fostering trust and confidence[1].
  2. Increased Website Traffic: With more designer-client interactions occurring on Dribbble, the website's overall traffic is poised to increase, bringing more users to the platform to explore new projects and services[1]. The enhanced functionalities of the services and search tools may also prompt repeat visits, contributing to sustained and consistent traffic over time[1].
  3. Revenue Streams: By keeping transactions on the platform, Dribbble ensures its safety net is available to users, protecting them from potential scams, fraud, and intellectual property disputes. This in turn provides designers and Dribbble with new revenue streams through increased transaction activity[3].
  4. Faster Growth: The surge in transaction activity has been exponential, with the market expanding at an impressive rate over the past six months[4]. By consolidating the user experience and making it easier for clients to discover new designers and services, Dribbble is poised for continued growth in the near future.

In the ongoing pursuit of enhancing the designer-client experience, we've introduced Service Search—a technology-driven feature that empowers clients to discover relevant business services effortlessly, resulting in streamlined finance transactions for both parties. This innovation not only boosts lead conversion for designers but also increases website traffic, contributing to our broader objective of fostering increased user activity and interaction on our platform.
