In the Spring 2022 issue of the publication, readers will find a comprehensive focus on renewable energy, with a particular emphasis on energy storage, wind, solar, waste-to-energy, and the Asian market. The issue includes a regional report focusing on the renewable energy market in Asia, as well as technical articles on the aforementioned topics.

One of the key highlights of the issue is the report about Ocean Winds (OW), a joint venture between ENGIE and EDP Renewables, which has launched OW Brasil, a fully owned Brazilian company focused on offshore wind development opportunities in Brazil. Bautista Rodríguez, CEO of Ocean Winds, stated that Brazil shows a high potential for offshore wind projects, and OW aims to expand its footprint in the offshore wind sector.

Ocean Winds performs a strict market analysis and selection to ensure only countries with strong fundamentals are selected for offshore wind development. This approach is evident in Brazil, where the offshore wind potential is estimated to be 700 GW, according to a study by the Energy Research Company EPE.

The development of offshore wind projects in Brazil is an opportunity to meet growing energy demand, develop green hydrogen projects, diversify the energy matrix, and ensure energy security with a renewable source. Ocean Winds has already started licensing five new offshore wind projects in December 2020, with a combined capacity of 15 GW in the states of Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio de Janeiro, and Rio Grande do Sul.

Brazil has taken steps in the right direction for the regulatory framework for offshore wind development, reinforcing its potential for offshore wind projects. ENGIE, one of the sponsors of Ocean Winds, is the second largest private-sector power company in Brazil. EDPR, another sponsor of Ocean Winds, has 795 MW of wind and solar installed capacity in Brazil.

The Spring 2022 issue of the publication offers in-depth articles on various renewable energy topics, providing readers with valuable insights into the current state and future prospects of the renewable energy sector. The issue serves as a testament to the growing importance of renewable energy in meeting global energy demands and combating climate change.
