Deutsche Glasfaser Kicks Off Fiber Optic Expansion in Droper and Kloster Oesede
Deutsche Glasfaser, a leading provider of fiber optic services in rural areas of Germany, has announced the commencement of demand bundling for its fiber optic network expansion in Droper and Kloster Oesede. The aim of this expansion is to provide stable and future-proof infrastructure, enabling high-speed internet access for the residents of these rural areas.
The demand bundling process involves collecting signed contracts from residents before construction begins. The required contract quota, typically around 40% to 50% of households in the area, must sign up for fiber optic service contracts. This quota triggers the network expansion to ensure economic viability.
While the exact contract quota for Droper and Kloster Oesede has not been disclosed, it aligns with industry practice for rural fiber expansions. Customers typically sign contracts during a marketing campaign, and if the quota is reached, the network build-out commences; if not, the project may be postponed or canceled.
Citizens in the expansion areas have the opportunity to conclude a contract with Deutsche Glasfaser to receive a free fiber optic connection to their home or apartment. If at least 33% of the contract quota in the expansion area is met, the prerequisite for the expansion of the fiber optic network is met.
The fiber optic network expansion could allow citizens to replace commuting with working from home, offering a significant advantage for those living in rural areas. Latecomers in the expansion areas can still be connected, but they must bear the connection costs of 1,500 euros.
Deutsche Glasfaser emphasizes close cooperation with municipalities and local residents, and Christian Morag, the project manager of Deutsche Glasfaser, sees the company as a reliable partner for these communities. The new infrastructure takes into account all households in the expansion areas.
The deadline for contract signings is November 8, 2025. Deutsche Glasfaser is driving the fiber optic expansion quickly and unbureaucratically, with the aim of bringing the benefits of high-speed internet to the residents of Droper and Kloster Oesede.
