Microsoft Bolsters Productivity Suite with New AI Agents for Teams, SharePoint, and Viva Engage

Microsoft has bolstered its productivity suite with new AI agents for Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Viva Engage. These agents, available to organizations with Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses, are designed to act as active team members, maintaining context across conversations and projects.

The tech giant has introduced a Facilitator agent for Teams channels. This agent stays updated on ongoing discussions, project status, and team objectives. It can generate meeting agendas, track decisions, and convert discussions into actionable tasks. Meanwhile, a new knowledge agent in SharePoint automates site clean-up and streamlines content management.

Microsoft is positioning AI as a team member rather than just a tool. These AI agents are designed to participate actively in business processes, maintaining context across conversations, meetings, and project lifecycles. For instance, the Project Manager agent integrated with Microsoft Planner can generate project plans and monitor progress across multiple workstreams. Viva Engage communities gain an AI agent that facilitates knowledge sharing by providing responses to frequently asked questions with proper citations.

Microsoft has also updated Microsoft 365 Copilot, making it easier to use across chats, channels, and meetings. This update, rolled out on October 1, reflects Microsoft's commitment to enhancing user experience and productivity.

With these new AI agents, Microsoft aims to make AI more tangible and valuable for enterprises. By acting as active team members, these agents can help organizations improve productivity, streamline processes, and facilitate knowledge sharing. The updates reflect Microsoft's ongoing efforts to leverage AI to enhance its productivity suite.
