Mercedes-Benz Unveils Electric Smart Cars for UK in September 2017
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new range of electric Smart cars, set to hit the UK market in September 2017. The electric Ford, Ford Cabrio, and FordFour models promise an official range of up to 100 miles, with real-world estimates around 70 miles. Pricing in Germany starts from €22,000, suggesting UK prices may start above £20,000.
The electric Ford cars feature an 80bhp motor, delivering 118lb/ft of torque. The Ford can accelerate from 0-62mph in 11.5 seconds, while the Ford Cabrio takes 12.7 seconds. Charging takes 2.5 hours with a wallbox and 6 hours with a regular plug. A promised 22kw fast charger option is expected in 2017.
The cars come with extra dashboard instruments and a Ford Control App for electric information and pre-conditioning. Optional Kermit green design packages and BRABUS customizations are available. The next-generation Ford #2, with at least 260 km WLTP range, is expected in Germany from November 2025.
The electric Ford cars, priced competitively, offer a practical range and quick charging options. With various customization choices, they cater to diverse preferences. The upcoming Ford #2 promises even greater range, further solidifying Mercedes-Benz's commitment to electric vehicles.
