Martin Guitars Unveils Mikael Åkerfeldt Signature OM Acoustic Guitar
Martin Guitars has unveiled a new signature model in collaboration with Swedish musician Mikael Åkerfeldt. The limited-edition guitar, priced at £/$6,999, is a high-end, custom OM acoustic guitar with exclusive features.
The Mikael Åkerfeldt OM Signature guitar boasts a three-piece back construction with an East Indian rosewood insert, herringbone purfling, and flamed maple binding. Its VTS torrefied solid spruce top and scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing ensure superior tone and resonance. The guitar's Guatemalan rosewood back and sides add to its rich, warm sound.
Åkerfeldt, known for his work with Opeth and his extensive experience with Martin guitars, co-developed the OM with Martin's luthiers. He joins an elite group of musicians, including Eric Clapton and David Gilmour, who have their own Martin signature guitars. Only 74 units of this guitar will be made worldwide, each one a testament to Åkerfeldt's musical legacy. The guitar's Low Profile Velocity neck shape is designed for speed and comfort, making it a dream for guitarists.
The Mikael Åkerfeldt OM Signature guitar is a masterclass in craftsmanship and artistry. With its limited production run and high price point, it's a coveted addition to any serious collector's or musician's inventory. Åkerfeldt's confidence in his signature guitar is evident, placing it among the greats in Martin's museum.
