New Marriott Bonvoy American Express Cards Launch in Japan, Enhancing Travel Rewards for Frequent Travelers
American Express and Marriott International have announced the launch of two new co-brand credit cards in Japan, set to be available nationwide from August 21, 2025. The Marriott Bonvoy American Express Premium Card and the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card offer exclusive benefits, experiences, and premium access tailored to frequent Marriott travelers in Japan.
The Marriott Bonvoy American Express Premium Card offers a range of benefits to its members, including automatic Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status upon enrollment, upgrading to Platinum Elite status when spending exceeds JPY 5 million annually. Cardholders can enjoy a Free Night Award redeemable with 75,000 Marriott Bonvoy points at participating hotels after spending over JPY 4 million annually.
Cardholders can also earn 3 points per JPY 100 on daily purchases and 6 points per JPY 100 spent at Marriott Bonvoy hotels. Additionally, the Premium Card grants access to designated airport lounges and luggage delivery at Haneda, Narita, Kansai, and Chubu airports. The card also includes American Express’ Pocket Concierge service with 20% cashback on select premium restaurants, capped at JPY 10,000 per year.
The Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card provides automatic Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status upon enrollment. Cardholders can redeem a Free Night Award with 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points at participating hotels after spending over JPY 2.5 million annually. Cardholders can earn 2 points per JPY 100 on daily purchases, 3 points on airline and overseas spending, and 5 points at Marriott Bonvoy hotels. The card also offers access to airport lounges and luggage delivery at Narita, Kansai, and Chubu airports.
Both cards facilitate elite status benefits such as room upgrades and late check-outs, enhancing the overall hotel experience. The Premium Card grants wider lounge access (including Haneda) and higher points earning rates at hotels.
As travelers in Japan resume travel, these enhanced cards offer a timely way for customers to earn rewards and enjoy greater value from every spend. The new Marriott Bonvoy American Express Premium Card Member can receive up to 45,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points between August 21 and October 21, 2025.
