The Director Mini 3.0 boasts over 50 enhancements, aiming to push the boundaries of what compact devices can achieve in live production. One of the key improvements is the better utilization of mobile CPU and GPU power, enabling more advanced live production capabilities directly on the device.

Integrated hardware connections, including multiple HDMI inputs, ethernet, audio input, and headphone ports, have been streamlined within a single firmware update cycle for ease of use and maintenance. The update also focuses on extensive WAN functionality and media capabilities, supporting AV over IP, which allows greater flexibility in live production networks and cloud-like workflows.

The Director Mini 3.0 now supports captive portal authentication in shared Wi-Fi environments and USB tethering to use a smartphone's cellular data connectivity. It also allows the use of NDI High Bandwidth sources with alpha channel as motion overlays in its graphics engine.

Remote control options have been extended, allowing producers and assistants to control more aspects from mobile devices and laptops. New scene presets in Director Mini version 3.0 facilitate faster and easier creation of scene layouts with multiple camera angles and sources. The integrated graphics capabilities have been expanded to include animated titles and lower thirds.

The user interface of Director Mini has been refined for quicker and more precise work with scene layouts and graphics. The browser-based web UI now includes instant replay controls. Director Mini's built-in scoreboard engine now offers four new football (soccer) templates, including stoppage time and player substitution.

Nick Ma, CEO and CTO of Magewell, stated that version 3.0 includes powerful new features that add value for customers. The enhancements in Director Mini version 3.0 are focused on the production toolset, remote control capabilities, and input flexibility.

Director Mini, a compact device that combines multi-input switching, graphics, streaming, recording, and monitoring, is highly acclaimed for its ability to pack a large number of features into a small, portable form factor.
