Lyten Expands Battery Manufacturing in Europe

Lyten, a leading innovator in battery technology, is set to restart and expand its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing in Europe, following the acquisition of Northvolt's Polish facility in Gdansk. This move makes Lyten the owner of Europe's largest BESS manufacturing plant.

The acquisition, which is part of a broader strategy to establish local, supply-chain-independent battery manufacturing hubs, is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025. Post-acquisition, Lyten plans to immediately restart production and begin product deliveries by the same quarter, initially targeting existing European customers.

The Gdansk facility has a capacity of 6 GWh per year, with potential to scale to 10 GWh. Lyten aims to ramp up production to several hundred MWh next year, with exponential growth thereafter to meet the rapidly growing demand for its products. The acquisition of multiple Northvolt assets, including plants in the US and Europe, is part of this strategy.

Lyten's lithium-sulfur battery technology is uniquely positioned to deliver the performance and supply chain independence necessary to meet the insatiable need for batteries in sectors like defense, drones, and AI datacenters. The company emphasizes its commitment to providing non-Chinese supply chain battery solutions for various applications.

To support this growth, Lyten is onboarding world-leading talent in both the US and European markets. Notable members of Northvolt's energy storage engineering team will join Lyten in Stockholm. The company has also secured over $200 million in equity investment, bringing its total funding to over $625 million.

Founded in 2015, Lyten holds over 540 patents related to its proprietary 3D Graphene material. The company's ability to grow through acquisitions is a testament to its technology and its leadership team's experience in private equity.

In summary, Lyten's current status is active acquisition and operational restart of BESS manufacturing in Poland, with near-term delivery goals for Q4 2025 and an aggressive expansion roadmap for the European market, complemented by parallel US operations, leveraging its lithium-sulfur technology for various high-growth energy storage applications. The investment community is responding positively to Lyten's expansion strategy.
