Lyft partnership expansion by Chase, resulting in reduced earning rates for specific cards
Starting April 1, eligible Chase cardholders will enjoy revised earning rates on Lyft rides. The partnership between Chase and Lyft, which already offers exclusive perks to cardholders, continues but may change in the future.
The benefits for different Chase cards are as follows:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®: Cardholders will receive a $10 monthly Lyft credit, equivalent to $120 annually. While the earning rate on Lyft purchases drops from 10 to 5 points per dollar, the reduced rate still yields a 10.25% return, thanks to the valuation of Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Sapphire Reserve cardmembers who have already secured a two-year complimentary Lyft Pink All Access membership will maintain that benefit. However, this offer is not available for new members.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: You'll earn 5 points per dollar spent on Lyft rides, resulting in a 10.25% return based on points valuation.
- All Ink business cardholders—including those with the Ink Business Premier® Credit Card, the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card, and the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card—can continue to earn 5 points per dollar spent on Lyft rides.
- Cardholders of Chase Freedom Card (no longer available to new applicants), Chase Freedom Flex®, Chase Freedom Unlimited®, Chase Freedom Rise, and Chase Freedom® Student card, will see their earning rate decrease from 5% cash back to 2% cash back on all Lyft rides.
It's worth noting that Lyft's long-standing partnership with Delta Air Lines is set to change, with Delta starting a partnership with Uber. Earnings rates for the new partnership have yet to be announced. In the meantime, those who link their Delta SkyMiles and Lyft accounts can still earn 1 mile per dollar spent on Lyft rides in the U.S. until April 7.
