Lenovo Enlarges Presence in Saudi Arabia: Construction of New Riyadh Headquarters and Manufacturing Plant to Accelerate the Kingdom's Digital Revolution
Lenovo Strengthens Presence in Saudi Arabia with New Regional Headquarters
In a significant move to bolster its presence in the Middle East, tech giant Lenovo is establishing a Regional Headquarters (RHQ) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The new RHQ will be located in the iconic Al Majdoul Tower, a growing technology and innovation hub, reflecting Lenovo's commitment to being at the heart of the Kingdom's digital transformation [1][3].
The appointment of a senior leadership team for Saudi Arabia marks a crucial step in Lenovo's regional strategy. Lawrence Yu, a 15-year Lenovo veteran, has been appointed as the Head of the RHQ. He led the Lenovo Retail Solutions division to record-breaking performance, achieving 40% annual revenue growth over five years [2]. Supporting executives include Giovanni Di Filippo as General Manager for Lenovo Saudi Arabia and Zoran Radumilo as Chief Technology Officer [1][2][3].
Lenovo's strategic partnership with ALAT, a Public Investment Fund (PIF)-owned company, is another key element of its strategy. This collaboration focuses on broadening Lenovo’s global manufacturing footprint and supporting the Kingdom's transformation efforts. In February 2025, Lenovo and ALAT broke ground on a 200,000 square meter advanced manufacturing facility in Riyadh’s Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ). By 2026, this plant is expected to start producing millions of "Saudi Made" devices, significantly boosting local manufacturing capacity [1][2][3][4].
Lenovo's investments, which include the regional headquarters, manufacturing facility, flagship retail store, and VIP customer service centers, are projected to contribute up to $10 billion to Saudi Arabia’s non-oil GDP by 2030, reinforcing the Kingdom's diversification and industrialization efforts under Vision 2030 [3][4].
The RHQ also benefits from Saudi Arabia’s regional headquarters program launched in 2021, which offers incentives such as a 30-year corporate income tax exemption and withholding tax relief, providing Lenovo with a favorable environment to expand operations [4].
With Mr. Yu at the helm, Lenovo's RHQ in Riyadh is set to play a pivotal role in Lenovo's Middle East activities, driving growth, overseeing marketing, research and development, customer service, and retail expansion in the Kingdom and region [1][2][3].
