The British automaker MG has unveiled its latest offering, the MG M9 EV, an all-electric 7-seater MPV. The M9 was showcased at the Auto Expo 2025 in India, and bookings commenced in May 2025 at a token amount of ₹51,000.
Key Features
The MG M9 EV boasts a 90 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion battery pack, located under the floor, promising a claimed range of up to 548 km based on internal testing. In real-world conditions, the range is estimated to be around 400–420 km. The electric motor, mounted at the front, generates 245 PS (approximately 242 bhp) and 350 Nm of torque.
Charging the MG M9 EV takes about 8.5 hours using an 11 kW charger from five per cent to 100 per cent, while DC fast charging (160 kW) enables an 80% charge in approximately 90 minutes.
The interior of the MG M9 EV offers a high level of comfort with second-row seats featuring heating, ventilation, and massage functions, and fold-out ottomans in the top variant. The high-spec interior includes natural leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a 13-speaker JBL sound system.
The exterior dimensions measure 5,270 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,840 mm in height, with a 3,200 mm wheelbase. The M9 features a closed-off trapezoidal front grille, LED headlamps with DRLs, electric sliding doors, 19-inch alloy wheels with self-healing tires, connected LED taillights, and an electric tailgate.
Safety Specifications
The MG M9 EV is equipped with 7 airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with auto-hold, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and an ADAS suite consisting of Adaptive Cruise Control, Integrated Cruise Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, lane driving aids, speed assist, and a 360-degree surround view monitor. The M9 has received a 5-star safety rating from European and Australian NCAP, and it awaits Bharat NCAP testing.
Powertrain Details
The MG M9 EV is powered by a single front-wheel-drive electric motor, with output of 245 PS (242 bhp) and 350 Nm torque. The drivetrain supports relaxed and linear acceleration suitable for city and highway driving, with a Sport mode for enhanced throttle response. The car starts by pressing the brake pedal and shifting to drive; no separate start button is present.
Pricing and Availability
The MG M9 EV is priced around ₹65 lakh ex-showroom in India and is positioned as a premium electric MPV, ideal for city and intercity use, with advanced comfort and safety features. The pricing for the MG M9 will be announced on July 21.
The MG M9 EV offers additional features such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functionality, and a 360-degree surround view camera. The M9 can run at a top speed of 180 kmph and features DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in 30 minutes. The car also comes with a 12.23-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
