Kevin Trueblood has been chosen as the new president of the Society of Broadcast Engineers.

The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) has announced a new leadership team for the coming year. Kevin Trueblood, a seasoned member of the SBE, has been elected as the president of the national board. This appointment marks the beginning of a one-year term starting on September 25, 2025, at the SBE National Meeting in Columbus, OH.

Trueblood brings extensive experience to his new role, having served in various positions within the organization. He was SBE treasurer from 2019 to 2022, secretary from 2022 to 2023, and vice president from 2023 to 2025. He also served a term on the Board of Directors from 2017 to 2019.

Trueblood's focus for the coming year will be on strategic planning for the association, expanding the Ennes Workshops, and ensuring that SBE’s certification and education offerings meet the demands of the modern engineering landscape.

Alongside Trueblood, Geary S. Morrill has been elected as vice president of the SBE. The Midwest Broadcast and Multimedia Technology Conference, a joint production of the state broadcast associations of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, will also take place on September 25, 2025, in Columbus, OH.

In addition to Trueblood, several other members have been re-elected or elected to serve on the SBE board of directors. These include:

  • Shane Toven, who has been reelected as SBE secretary for a second term.
  • Zhulieta Ibisheva, CBTE, serving as a member of the board from Chapter 37 Washington, DC, and Location: Washington, DC.
  • Greg Dahl, CPBE, representing Chapter 96 Rockford and Location: Rockford, IL.
  • Jeff Juniet, CBTE, representing Chapter 42 Central Florida and Location: Orlando, FL.
  • Brad Humphries, CBT, serving as a member of the board from Chapter 45 Charlotte and Location: Charlotte, NC.
  • Jeff Welton, CBRE, representing Chapter 100 Canada and Location: Chester, NS.
  • Dustin Hapli, CBNE, representing Chapter 26 Chicago 26 and Location: Buffalo Grove, IL.
  • John Mackey, CPBE, 8-VSB, DRB, CBNE, representing Chapter 124 North Oregon and Location: Portland, OR.
  • David Antoine, CBRE, CBNT, representing Chapter 15 New York City and Location: Bronx, NY.
  • Fred Willard, CPBE, ATSC3, 8-VSB, CBNT, representing Chapter 37 District of Columbia and Location: Dunkirk, MD.
  • Terry Douds, CPBE, representing Chapter 52 Central Ohio and Location: Lancaster, OH.

Ted D. Hand, a previous president, will serve as immediate past president. Sam Wallington, CPBE, is also continuing her term on the SBE board of directors.

The SBE is a professional organization of television and radio engineers and those in related fields. With over 4,000 members in 117 chapters across the United States, Hong Kong, and Eastern Europe, and members in over 25 other countries, the SBE plays a significant role in the broadcast engineering community.
