Jaguar Land Rover & Renault-Dacia Customers Targeted in Cyberattacks
Jaguar Land Rover and Renault-Dacia customers have been hit by separate cyberattacks, with personal data compromised in both incidents. The attacks highlight a growing threat to businesses worldwide.
Last month, Jaguar Land Rover experienced a major systems outage due to a hacker attack, leading to temporary production halts. Fortunately, financial data such as bank account details and passwords remained secure. The number of affected customers has not been disclosed for security reasons.
Meanwhile, Renault and Dacia have warned UK customers about a data breach affecting personal information. Affected customers are being contacted and advised to be cautious of unsolicited requests for personal information. The stolen details may include names, addresses, dates of birth, gender, phone numbers, vehicle identification numbers, and vehicle registration details. Both car owners and those who shared personal details without purchasing a vehicle may be impacted. Neither Renault nor Dacia's own systems were infiltrated, and the breach has been contained.
These incidents are part of a rising wave of cyberattacks against UK and global businesses. Renault apologized to affected customers and emphasized the importance of data privacy. As cyber threats continue to evolve, companies must remain vigilant to protect customer data.
